An entity is basically an asset or a sensor with distinct and independent existence. Entities always belong to a project. Entities of one project are not visible or accessible to other projects.
Look out for this icon for the Entity Manager app.
You can find it in the appbar as shown below.

Asset types

Introduction As we’ve already discussed, Assets contains two tabs - Assets and Asset Types. Asset and Asset Types tab contains of list of Assets and Asset Types respectively.
In order to create an Asset, we first need to create an Asset Type for that.
Every asset is created from an asset type. For example, there could be many motors labeled motor-1, motor-2, ... in a project, but all of those might be coming from the asset type called motor.

Assets

Introduction An asset is any physical object or space that is of interest in an IoT project. Examples of assets could be building, ship, factory, solar panel, wind turbine, truck, fridge, motor, pump, generator, inverter, compressor, gearbox, etc. An asset can child other assets below it, thus creating an asset hierarchy.
Creating an Asset Now to create an Asset, we need to be in Assets tab.
Similar to Asset Types, on the top right of Assets list, there is an Add asset button.

Sensor types

Introduction Similar to Assets, Sensors contains two tabs - Sensors and Sensor Types. Sensor and Sensor Types tab contains of list of Sensors and Sensor Types respectively.
In order to create a Sensor, we first need to create a Sensor Type for that.
Every sensor is created from a sensor type. For example, there could be many temperature-sensors labeled tmpr-1, tmpr-2, ... in a project, but all of those might be coming from the sensor type called tmpr.

Sensors

Introduction A sensor is a device to measure some metric in its surroundings which is typically the asset on which the sensor is installed. With respect to the entity map, we can say that the sensor is the child of that asset.
Creating a Sensor Now to create a Sensor, we need to be in Sensors tab.
Similar to Sensor Types, on the top right of Sensors list, there is an Add sensor button.

Entity Map

Introduction Entity Map is the place where tree structure of our Project Entities can be seen in Map view or Outline view. By default we get organzation and project name in entity map.
Creating Entity Map Project is a child entity of Organization, which is the root element. We can add child entities to our Project. Hovering on the Project name gives us the option to add child entity.
After clicking on it, Add Child Entity modal opens us which asks about the entity that we want to add - Asset or Sensor.

Alert Rules

Introduction Alert rules are the rules that are sent to the email ids or phone numbers if the specific condition is matched for the particular sensor or sensor type parameters. When we create alert rules in sensor types, the alert rule is applied to all the sensors that are part of the particular sensor type.
